New Vaiden Pages

. . . And links.

Beginning in August 2006, I will be adding links for any new pages for the VAIDEN.NET SITE to this page, rather than to the scrolling menu on the left of the first page you encountered.  The site is growing, and this is necessary to help reduce the loading time from the web.  Thank you for your continued support.

Southbound Train Into Vaiden from Winona – Picture was taken between March 1989 and September 10, 1995.

NOTE: On September 10, 1995, the train was rerouted between Memphis and Jackson due to the Illinois Central Railroad’s desire to abandon the original route (the Grenada District) in favor of the newer and flatter Yazoo District.

Piggly Wiggly, Lowery’s Beauty Shop and the new Courthouse – built in 1989 – can be seen, as well as the former building that housed Cearley’s Grocery / Vaiden Drugs. The Cearley building was still standing in March 1993.

On 12/19/2016, a Train came through Vaiden. Could this be the first train since the rail was diverted in 1995?  Here are two pictures taken by Brenda King.
